Lorna Sinclair (b.1994) is a Scottish artist currently living and working in Glasgow. Graduating in Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (2017), Lorna has since exhibited work across Europe and the UK, whilst recently completing Art Residencies in Costa Rica and Portugal. Lorna’s most recent Solo Show ‘Where No Storms Come’ opened at Birnam Arts Centre, Perth in July 2026.

Lorna’s practice is directed by colour in the natural world, as it is colour that moves her to paint. Using a saturated and playful palette, Lorna creates fantastical landscapes and that are rooted in reality but reimagined and transformed through her work.

​

Paint is embedded onto canvas with heavy layering of oil paint, pigments and sand. Memories of travels to faraway dreamscapes merge with scenes from her everyday life – rich botanical scenes, open windows and Lorna’s sprawling communal garden in Glasgow spill from her canvas and paper.                                                                                      Lorna’s most recent, focussed body of work explores the realms of night gardens – where she’s interested in the liminal space between dusk and nightfall – when nature and wildlife come alive, appearing as other-worldly in the sinking darkness.
